Like all the awards that have flowed to me this year, these requests came as a surprise. Most recently, I received in the mail a publication titled 2022 Lifetime Achievement Awards from an organization called Top 100 Registry. The book listed me as winning the award for literature.
These recognitions cap the series I’ve received this year. Who’s Who and other organizations sent me nine plaques honoring me with titles like man of the year, top professional, and top writer. Those awards are displayed in my dining room along with the plaque my 43 subordinates in Vietnam gave me to thank me for risking my life to save theirs when Saigon fell in 1975.
It is that plaque that I still cherish the most.
